Privacy
This page explains what Bugnik stores about you and why. Bugnik is in beta; this page will be updated as the product changes.
What we store
- Your account: your email address and, if you sign in with Google or GitHub, the name and profile picture link that account shares with us. We never see your Google or GitHub password.
- Your answers to the optional questions after sign-up (who you are, which stacks you want to practise).
- Your work: the code you write in the editor, your test runs and your submissions, including a copy of the changes you submitted, so you can see your history and progress.
- Issue reports: what you write when you report an issue with a problem, linked to your account if you're signed in, with a copy of your latest test run on that problem (results and output, not your code) so we can reproduce it.
- Stack requests: the stacks you ask us to add on the Problems page (and the name you type for “Other”), linked to your account if you're signed in. Your browser remembers that you voted so the box says thanks next time.
Usage analytics
We use PostHog to understand which features are used (for example: a problem was opened, tests were run, a submission passed). When you're signed in, events are linked to your account ID, not your email. When you're not, they aren't linked to you at all and we don't recognise you between visits (no cookies). We don't record your screen or what you type. PostHog stores this data in the United States.
Error reports
When something breaks, Sentry receives a technical report (what failed and where) tagged with your account ID. We switched off the collection of cookies, request contents and IP-based user details. Sentry stores this data in the European Union.
Where it lives
Accounts and your work are stored with Supabase in Mumbai, India. Your code is compiled and tested on our own servers, in isolated containers without network access.
Cookies and browser storage
We set one cookie, and only when you sign in: it keeps you signed in. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies; our analytics keeps nothing in your browser. Your browser's local storage holds a few things that stay on your device: your light or dark theme, the editor's unsaved changes (so they aren't lost if your connection drops), your IDE layout and whether you already requested a stack.
Deleting your data
You can ask us to delete your account and everything linked to it. Email support@bugnik.com (the contact page opens it in Gmail, Outlook.com or your mail app).
